COURSE INFORMATION
This course provides all information necessary for
the operator to gain a sound understanding of the requirements of the
Australian Standards, Codes of Practice, and the various state
regulations for safely working at heights.
It is recommended for those personnel who work at height, their supervisors, and those who set up height safety systems.
The course is based upon the national competency standards accredited by the state and national Training Authorities.
The content is customised to be specific to the applicable site or
workplace, and includes selection of appropriate equipment accordingly.
Hazard identification and Risk analysis are core components of the
course in compliance with the applicable statutory requirements.

COURSE CONTENT - THEORY
- Introduction to the regulations, codes of practice, and standards
- When is protection required?
- Identification of Hazards and Risk factors
- Determine the degree of Risk
- Categories of height protection equipment
- What equipment is available?
- Basic principles and set up of height protection equipment, and incompatible equipment
- Unfamiliar hazards associated with the equipment
- Solutions applied to common hazards and problems
- Care and maintenance of safety equipment
PRACTICAL EXERCISES
- Carried out in a specifically selected and protected environment
- Hazard Identification (includes Site Audit if required)
- Conduct of actual Safety Analysis
- Solutions / Techniques
- Selection, inspection and appropriate use of equipment
ASSESSMENT
Assessment is against the national Standards and Competencies.
Assessors are fully accredited and we have third party appeal
procedures in place that you might access if you disagree with any
assessment outcome.
NOMINAL DURATION
Nominal duration for this course is 8 hours, which may vary
dependant upon the practical solutions being developed. The course may
be delivered in modules if appropriate
