Dangerous Goods Awareness (Recognition and Properties)

The Dangerous Goods Awareness (also referred to as Recognition and Properties of Dangerous Goods) course provides information necessary for the participant to satisfy the requirements of the various Dangerous Goods Regulations covering transport and/or storage. Content includes identification and handling, safety precautions and equipment, and compliance with the applicable statutory requirements. 

The course is customised specifically to meet the needs and interests of the participants, and is delivered in a manner that ensures high levels of interest and learning retention.

 

COURSE CONTENT - THEORY

•  Introduction

•  Acts and Regulations

•  Safe Storage and Transport Principles

•  Overview of all classes of Dangerous Goods concentrating on those handled by the client

•  Difference between dangerous goods and hazardous substances

•  Examination of Emergency Procedure Guides and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)

 

COURSE CONTENT - PRACTICAL

A series of table-top demonstrations can be used to illustrate properties of various Classes, however this is entirely the choice of the client and may depend on the location of the course.This may extend the duration of the course.

 

ASSESSMENT

Assessment is via a short questionnaire generally done as a group.

 

DURATION

Nominal duration of the course is 4 hours.
