MANUAL HANDLING

COURSE INFORMATION

This course provides all information necessary for the operator to satisfy the training requirements listed under the Code of Practice for Manual Handling, and the various Regulations of the States.

The course is based upon the national competency standards that are accredited by the State Training Authorities and the Australian National Training Authority. It also meets the competency units in National Training Packages.

The content is customised to be specific to the applicable site or workplace, and includes selection of appropriate equipment accordingly. Hazard identification and Risk analysis are core components of the course in compliance with the applicable statutory requirements.

• What is Manual Handling? - Examples of Manual Handling
• Unfamiliar Manual Handling hazards
• Hazards and Risk factors
• Hazard categories and physical and mechanical hazards
• Work processes
• Special precautions may be necessary
• Determine the degree of risk
• Appropriate training
• Solutions applied to common hazards and problems

PRACTICAL EXERCISES

• Normally carried out in a workshop environment
• Manual Handling Hazard Identification (includes Site Audit if required)
• Conduct of actual Safety Analysis
• Solutions / Techniques
• Selection and appropriate use of equipment

ASSESSMENT

Assessment is against the National Standard and Assessment Instruments, which are common in all states and territories. Assessors are fully licensed and accredited and we have third party appeal procedures in place that you might access if you disagree with any assessment outcome.
