This course is designed to show the basic safety and theory fundamentals required for the safe operation of this plant. The course is competency based, and successful applicants who attain the necessary competence will be eligible to apply for the issue of a Qualification Card (Licence).
The course is aligned to the Competency Standards contained within National Training Packages.
COURSE CONTENT- THEORY
Acts and Regulations
Equipment Safety Checks: Job planning - Check site
Hazard identification and control
Transport to and from job – Driven or truck/ trailer
Location of plant – Parking, traffic, ground conditions
Operation of plant
Shut down procedures
PRACTICAL EXERCISES
Pre-operational and After-Start checks of plant and yard/job site
Planning and familiarisation with plant
Basic driving and operational exercises
Operation including:- periodic checks during operations; noise and flying debris; breakdown; injury avoidance
Demonstrate use of 4 in 1 loader bucket, safe loading of trucks and clean up
(competence must be achieved before using further attachments)
Demonstrate safe procedures for the changing and use of buckets and attachments
Pedestrian and road user safety and hazard control
Product care and avoiding damage to facilities and machine
Parking – obstruction and collision avoidance
Shut down procedures – loading onto truck/driving to base
Attachment fitting and use
ASSESSMENT
Assessment is against the national Standard and Assessment Instrument, which are common in all states and territories. Assessors are fully licensed and accredited and we have third party appeal procedures in place that you might access if you disagree with any assessment outcome.
